During the liberation of the Philippines from Japanese occupation many years ago, the Americans came to help free the Filipino people.
One of the U.S. cargo planes had lost its way, flying in dense fog, its propellers hummed low, hovering over the enchanted mountain of Makiling, Laguna.
The cargo door suddenly dropped open, and the American utility vehicles rolled out one by one from the belly of the lost plane, littering the sky…
The mossy green jeeps tumbled about the air like toy matchboxes.
A bright rainbow arched over Mount Makiling, where a beautiful Diwata (fairy) lived, her name, Maria Makiling. Lying leisurely on her back, facing the sky, the vibrant hues of the rainbow stretched above her, from East to West.
As the driverless Army jeeps tumbled about in the velocity of strong winds, Maria Makiling spotted them, luring them towards her rainbow. Into and through the rainbow’s arch they coasted, drenched and coated in vibrant hues!
The now technicolored jeeps continued to drop towards the earth, reflecting bedazzling streaks, like a magical burst of the Monsoon.
Delighted, Maria gently waved her finger, summoning her beautiful sky horses, Amihan & Habagat, (the trade winds) to steer the jeeps to safety. Galloping thunderously across the clouds, the winged horses, together with its powerful herd, stirred up a wind cloud and created a soft landing for the jeeps.
The horses in their majestic splendor, cantered towards the front of the jeeps in a silvery, gleaming flash to lead, protect, and safely forge the rocky path ahead of the fleet.
Roaming all roads in the Philippine Islands since, the Jeepneys became vital to the nation’s progress, connecting people from the suburbs to the metropolis.
Watching from her mountain, Maria beamed proudly at Amihan & Habagat, along with the brave herd. Satisfied, she decided to rest, stretching her body from East to West, facing the Heavens, happy to help the People’s Jeepney.
THE END.
This one is too fun!!
